Calvary Chapel Study Center Overview

The Calvary Chapel Study Center (CCSC) is a tutorial service providing instruction for core courses for home school students in grades 9-12.  Students will spend 1 day in the Study Center classroom and 4 days in their home classroom. The curriculum work is organized through the Study Center instructor and then implemented by the parents at home. The goal is to help prepare students to become spiritually and academically independent. CCSC provides a unique blend of in-class experience along with home school flexibility.

The Calvary Chapel Study Center classes will begin in early September and end in late May.
During classroom days, teachers provide direct instruction. Teachers also provide guidelines and instructions for the days at home.  There will be a special online platform to assist in communicating with students and parents while at home. Consistent feedback is provided by teachers to students and parents regarding students’ progress in each class. A parent or responsible adult is required to aide with instruction and monitor student progress at home. Parents are expected to continue exercising responsibility for their children through graduation.

Initially, we will primarily utilize 2 classrooms for our students.  One room will have classes for 9th/10th graders and the other 11th/12th graders.  The maximum will be 12 students per classroom.  Attached is a schedule of what will be offered in the fall.  Classes will be conducted that have sufficient enrollment and an appropriate teacher.

Faculty
All teachers are born-again Christians who endorse the Calvary Chapel of the Finger Lakes Statement of Faith and the Study Center’s focus on the teacher-mentor role. We are open to using qualified parents as part of our teaching staff. All teachers are considered part of the Calvary Chapel of the Finger Lakes staff.

Beyond the Classroom
The Study Center is not part of Calvary Chapel Academy (CCA), however, the CCSC students are welcome to participate in some of the CCA activities, such as Flag Football, Drama Club and Music.  More activities will be available as the Lord raises up advisors.

Student Conduct
The Calvary Chapel Study Center students are expected to have Christ-like attitudes in the learning environment and develop positive Christian relationships. Students at the Study Center are expected to cooperate with their conduct and in appearance.  Virtues of Christian character such as respect for others, love for God, obedience, and modesty are strongly encouraged. Discipline concerns are brought to the parents’ attention and principles of Christian communication and confidentiality are maintained in all circumstances.
